Thankful

My livingroom was comfortably full with 4 couples, 1 single, and 2 kids. Our stomachs were also full with the pre-thanksgiving meal of pizza, as we started to share our "thankful thoughts." Everyone took a turn, and released a unique perspective of the world, and God's working in it. Even Nathan, my 9 year old said, "I'm thankful for the authors and illustrators of the books that I read because they make learning fun for all the children of the world." The world is even more beautiful when you see the Kingdom of God in the minutiae of life. I am grateful to the point of tears. Life is messy, no doubt. But when I put down the mirror for a second, I see His Kingdom: the activity of His rule and reign.

Overwhelmed and appreciative.

On being recommended

In order to be recommended (as in a recommendation letter for being accepted into a university) the person doing the recommending must have some intimate knowledge of you. They must know the truth. All of it. If it hasn't been shared, it must be.

And when you share all of it (and I'm speaking mostly of negative news), there is a sense of not being deserving of the recommendation. This is good. For as soon as you believe that you deserve it, you probably don't.

Not ying and yang, but reality and truth.
